firebird2.5-common software package provides common files for firebird 2.5 servers and clients, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install firebird2.5-common
firebird2.5-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the firebird2.5-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep firebird2.5-common *
You will get with firebird2.5-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
